On Wednesday 17th November 2010 GlobalNet21 are holding a central London (UK) based, public engagement meeting on the subject of Diversity & 21st Century Leadership.

The 21st century will require a new form of leadership that can reflect as well as lead the changing world we live in. To reflect that world then that leadership needs to be a diverse one that is inclusive of the different groups that make up the society in which we live. But does it?

In this meeting we will have a chance to discuss if the leadership found in our government, in our businesses and in our public services really is one that is diverse and inclusive or whether it is one that merely reflects a narrow part of society. And if so what can be done about it. Leading this discussion will be,

Viv Grant who is a Director of Integrity Coaching and has a wealth of experience and expertise in developing strategies to maximise the performance of individuals from black and minority ethnic backgrounds. A former successful headteacher, since 2002 she has worked as leadership consultant and coach; for the National College for School Leadership, the London Centre for Leadership in Learning, the DfES, a number of local Authorities and on a wide range of independently commissioned leadership development programmes.

Veena Vasista (VKV) is an independent consultant in social policy development, delivery, and advocacy in the U.K and the U.S. She has experience of working closely and creatively with community organisations, business leaders and senior government officials. She has specialist expertise in working with equality and human rights frameworks. Veena has also been working with The Runnymede Trust to develop an ‘Enlightened’ Leadership framework for diversity and inclusion. Veena is a qualified mediator and ethical fitness trainer (for the Institute for Global Ethics), with facilitation training in Non-Violent Communication and Appreciative Inquiry techniques. Veena is on the Vice-Chair of the British Institute of Human Rights, on the Advisory Board of the Institute for Global Ethics – UK, and a volunteer mediator with Tower Hamlets Mediation Services. She will publish a report for Runnymede on Diversity & Leadership in November.
