Developing 21st Century Network (19/08/2009 meetup)

Submitted by on Saturday, 8 August 2009One Comment

groups 21st Century Network’s next  meeting will give members a chance to talk about the development of 21st Century Network both in terms of our meeting and our social action groups. We will begin it in a general session and then divide up into different groups to discuss the development of

  • Social Action (and this maybe more than one group) and
  • The development of our meetups and mini meetups as well.

This is a chance to continue to get the social action groups off the ground and to plan for the future. It is also a chance to see what other groups’ people are interested in and see how we can start them up. It will also be an opportunity to give feedback on meetings and to suggest ideas for the future.

We would like to involve you in planning for the future so please come along and help us provide activities that we all find valuable.

This meeting will be held at the premises of MWB Business Exchange in Mayfair. They have kindly offered us their meeting rooms so that we can hold a general session and there will be smaller rooms for when we break into groups. We are grateful for their offer of meeting premises.

Fantastic meeting of action groups yesterday evening and a welcome support to Francis and Christina. Even with growing pains and demands on time and resource taking a disproportionate part of focus – a bit like everyday living – still reassuring that a space can exist with the same zeal and passion to explore the multitude of ideas and curiosity within the ranks of 21CN. The range, and, depth of concrete movements arising out of ad-hoc activity is mesmerizing!

Hearing about the other groups’ events Francis reminded us of the catalyzing purpose of we20 in that you are in effect the provider of the event. The inspired individual, who like the proverbial blogger can start the thread that others can run on, in organizing a the first step. Creating a plan with up to 19 other like minds for something you believe you can solve http://we20.org/about/. The lessons of the crash have taught us that leadership starts not with leaders who explicitly shoulder our hopes but with leader-ship that can mobilize, plan, and, inspire effective change wherever and however it is required. The new world order is about devolved leadership, and, we20 can provide a platform for our network to connect you with people, resources, and, policy makers, active in the area, who in turn can catalyze your plans, and, make them real. Never in history has necessity, disruptive innovation, and, grass-roots’ creativity and collaboration, afforded unsung or legend-status leaders alike an opportunity to turn kernels of inspiration into concrete plans for change.
